15.5 - Podcast Review of Episode 5 of Hospital Playlist

Episode Summary

Episode 5 of Hospital Playlist highlights how medicine is never just about diagnoses and procedures—it’s also about patients, families, money, sacrifice, and compassion. We discuss several memorable medical cases, including the doctors recognizing signs of child abuse, a congressman trying to disguise the identity of his liver donor, a baby with moyamoya disease, and the very different ways families approach organ donation and expensive medical care. We also explore newer treatments such as TAVR, Korea’s jeokgeum installment savings accounts and jeonse housing system, the hilarious Mafia game at Jung Rosa’s house, and changing attitudes toward divorce in Korea. There’s also plenty happening in our characters’ personal lives. Ahn Chi Hong confesses his feelings to Chae Song Hwa, Jang Gyeo Ul continues to pine for Ahn Jeong Won, and Chu Min Ha begins seeing Yang Seok Hyeong in a new light. Best of all, Kim Jun Wan survives an impressive roundhouse kick from Lee Ik Sun before finally taking her hand and asking her to go out with him. The episode ends on a worrying note when Chae Song Hwa discovers a suspicious mass and needs a biopsy. We also take a closer look at Jung Kyung Ho, the actor who plays Kim Jun Wan, including his career, his wonderful comedic timing, and why Jun Wan’s gruff exterior and deeply caring actions make him such a compelling character.
